Wood River Wrongful Death Lawyers

Illinois Fatal Injury Attorneys

At the Southern Illinois law firm of Short & Smith, P.C., we work with families that have lost loved ones due to acts of negligence, striving to get them compensation for their loss. While we understand that no amount of compensation can truly be adequate in these wrongful death cases, we also believe that it is important for families to get compensation for the loss of companionship, the loss of support and other losses.

Two Potential Claims in Fatal Accident Cases

The first claim in these cases is the wrongful death claim itself. This is the claim where we seek compensation for the family's loss. The second claim is referred to as a survival claim. These claims can be filed if the victim struggled with his or her injuries prior to death. Through these claims, we can get the family compensation for medical bills, as well as for the pain and suffering that the deceased went through prior to death. We will determine what type of action can be taken and move forward as necessary to seek justice for you and your family.
